Just a quick note to inform my readers that we had a trauma happen in our family toward the end of June and I have been focusing on helping the family pull together and get through it. I am uncertain when I will be back to regular posts, but I have not stopped blogging. Please beContinue reading “Away for a While”

Daniel Amos Tour 2011
I had the pleasure on Father’s Day of road-tripping with my three daughters to Akron, OH where we picked up my brother, grabbed dinner, and caught Daniel Amos in concert. I have seen DA many times over the past twenty years, and they have never sounded finer. Terry Taylor, band leader and lead singer/songwriter, isContinue reading “Daniel Amos Tour 2011”
Do we need a new economy?
I have been working hard the last few months to think through my underlying beliefs about the role of government in human life. I have a friend who believes that the rights of the individual are supreme. Everything begins and ends there. Something about this deeply troubles me, but I haven’t been able to figureContinue reading “Do we need a new economy?”

Why are you on this planet?
What is the purpose of your life? Can you state clearly and concisely what your life is all about? I wrote my first life mission statement about twelve years ago, but significantly revised it today. Dudely Dude

Obama is seeing reality much more clearly, and reasonable human beings, given full information, will naturally come to similar conclusions about howContinue reading “Barack W. Bush?”
bin Laden Dead
On the radio today I heard a family member of a 9/11 victim say the news of bin Laden’s death does not bring rejoicing but, instead, relief. I don’t think I can capture my feelings any better. I have struggled a great deal with how I feel, and how I should feel about this news.Continue reading “bin Laden Dead”
Complaining
I hate winter, not because of the cold but because of the lack of sunlight. I get depressed every year and around February I feel like I’m going out of my mind. Usually I wake up every day and curse the weather. ButContinue reading “Complaining”
Climbing the Google Ladder
Climbing the Google Ladder If you Google the words thoughtful people, one of my posts comes up first out of 21 million! If you Google the words things I am good at, I am fourth out of 734 million. If you Google the words getting counseling, I am eighth out of 25,200,000. That’s one I’mContinue reading “Climbing the Google Ladder”
